Last nights meeting was our annual social and awards night.
Although turnout was a bit low, a good time was had by all. Maureen put on a great spread of food and her quiz had us scratching our heads at times.
Robin, Dave and Alan were the eventual quiz champions, walking away with the grand price of a couple of packets of Skittles (very apt as the final round of questions was about sweets) and some shohin pots and a small twin trunk Chinese Elm.
Les brought along his Japanese Hawthorn, branches loaded with fruit. I and most of the others bagged a couple of the haws to try our luck at growing them. Watch this space.
Finally the club award was (reluctantly) handed over by the current holder Dave to Lee, who’s group of Maples won the public vote for best tree in the display at the Aylestone Horticultural Show in July last year.
Here is the proud winner.
