A travel report from Carol, who missed our meeting, but had a great time in Chicago.

2 July:  Carol views Bonsai at Chicago Botanical Gardens, USA

I welcomed the opportunity to visit this wonderful place that displays and educates on everything to do with horticulture.  It takes more than a day to get around and appreciate everything there is to see.  It is mainly maintained by a huge volunteer force.  The gardens are spectacular and the bonsai collection is world renowned.  Too many pictures to show but here are some examples:

 

Also, the Japanese Gardens are an oasis of calm reflection where many trees grow full size in bonsai style.  Many of the Scots Pines have tensioned wires still working their tree’s shape.  Just a couple of pictures to share with you:
